Astrid Söderbergh Widding new Executive Director of Marianne and Marcus Wallenberg Foundation and Marcus and Amalia Wallenberg Foundation
Astrid Söderbergh Widding will take up her position as Executive Director of Marianne and Marcus Wallenberg Foundation (MMW) and Marcus and Amalia Wallenberg Foundation (MAW) on July 1st, 2025. MMW and MAW are together one of the largest private funders of research in the areas of social sciences and humanities and they annually distribute approximately SEK 500 million.
Astrid Söderbergh Widding is Professor of Cinema Studies, Rector/President of Stockholm University between February 2013 and January 2025 and since 2023 Chair of the Nobel Foundation. In addition, Astrid is a fellow of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences, the Royal Swedish Academy of Letters, History and Antiquities, and the Academia Europaea.
Astrid Söderbergh Widding succeeds Ingrid Sundström as head of MMW and MAW. Ingrid will remain as a senior advisor and Executive Director in a number of the other Wallenberg Foundations
